Hi I’m coming to the end of my first week of EC cycle and 5th day of Filgrastim injections sorry having a moan but oh I feel so unwell. Like full on flu up and down emotionally (I cried as only had one egg in house other day ) hahaha , just read on here some peeps having no side effects , I suppose everyone is different , celebrated my 54th birthday yesterday , mostly sleeping , really hoping it is going to get better ! Feel for my family putting up with me but thanks god I have them
Morning,
I’m sorry you feel so rubbish, I’ve finished my Chemo but certainly had my ups and downs, I worked out Steroids had a big effect on my mood, lack of sleep and good feeling while on them but felt crap, and feelings of rage in the days after. Hopefully you’ll start to feel better in the coming days, you are in the down part right now before your body starts to recover. Keeping hydrated and getting out for a walk in the fresh air helps if you can.
You can and will do this, listen to your body and talk to your team about how you are feeling. Xxxx
Hi Louise69, sorry to hear that you are feeling so rough. Firstly happy belated Birthday. It will be one that you will remember unfortunately for all the wrong reasons. I remember my first ever EC ccle like it was yesterday. Everyone reacts to it differently but I was like you it made me feel so awful the injections made me feel like I had the flu and really sore especially in my shoulder area
The steroids played havoc with my mood and I would cry at the drop off a hat. I had the treatment every 2 weeks as dose dense and I honestly thought that I would never feel human again and I though
how will I ever be able to take another cycle. It took me about 3 days after the injections were stopped to start to feel a little bit more human and then each day I felt a little better. Hopefu
ly you will start to feel better soon. Rest when you need to and be kind to yourself. As each cycle passes you will be really tired but on the days you feel good do something nice before the next cy
le. I will say I found the first one the hardest as I didn’t know what to expect and after that I knew that I would feel not so great for about a week then I had a week to recover until the next one
Everything you are feeling is normal. The steroids affect your mood terribly but it does get better. I hope this helps a little and that you know that you are not alone. If you are getting it 3 we
kly there will be other ladies who will be able to tell you how they felt. Drink plenty and even getting outside for a gentle walk each day helps a little too. Sending a healing hug. Jxxx

Thank you , think same about steroids , keep telling myself I’m strong and can do this can only get better I’m hoping x
Hi Louise69, sorry to hear you are feeling so bad after your EC chemo. I had a long lasting injection on this one pegfiligrastim I think it was called and only had to jab myself once on the day after chemo. My next chemo cycles I’m on docetaxel and have been told I will be having 5 days of injections think that will be the filigrastim. Not looking forward to that part although the jab doesn’t hurt it is the side effects that sound awful.
Hope when you have finished your injections it won’t be long until you feel more like yourself.
Wishing you all the best on your journey.
Hugs from cuffcake x x x x x
Thanks Cuffcake got a couple more EC then onto Paclitaxel , hoping no injections , hoping you ok on yours you never know lots of love and good luck with it xx
Hi Louise i found the filgrastrim infections really hard along with the steroids but you will be pleased to know that as long as your blood are good you won’t get injections with paclitaxel. I found that a chemo so much easier than EC. You may get steroids on the day for the initial dose but you don’t need them for days afterwards. I must admit I would have found any chemo better than the EC. Allow yourself the time you need after each cycle hun and be kind to yourself. You will start to feel better before your next cycle. Treat yourself to something nice even if it is just a little thing on the good days. You will get through this hun. There is always hope. If you are having a mastectomy contact knitted knockers they have some lovely ladies that knit softies and they are lovely and soft. There is a great site online called look good feel better that have a lot of online courses that you can do that are really great. Love from Janexxx
