Hi,
I am posting this on behalf my mum.
She is 55 & has just been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, although the lump has been removed and she is awaiting chemo the stats online for this particular cancer returning seems higher than some of the other breast cancers which is terrifying her.
Is there anyone else out there with triple negative breast cancer?
Or anyone who has recovered and surpassed the 5 years?
Hope to hear from you soon.
I was diagnosed with TNBC in April and have had a lumpectomy and chemotherapy.
I had my first Zometa infusion last week with the next one being in 6 months time. Ten sessions of radiotherapy start on Thursday and then that's my treatment finished, except for the 6 monthly Zometa and a daily Adcal d3 tablet.
I don't look at the online stats as they are, by their very nature, immediately out of date as they reflect treatment that was given 5 or 10 years ago and treatments are advancing all the time.

Hi Latchbrook,
Thank you for coming back to me
Sorry to hear you also are going through this also, wishing you a speedy recovery.
Yes that’s what Macmillian told me but most of my family have OCD so once they have fallen into the rabbit hole there is no escape.
Wishing you positive outcomes from your treatment x
There are lots of people on here living with TNBC. My diagnosis was last February. It’s true that at the population level, TNBC has a higher recurrence rate than other forms of BC, but your mum is an individual, not a statistic. Unfortunately I do have secondary cancer but it’s not stopping me from living a full life at the moment.
Morning Codffish.
Thank you for sharing your personal experience with us.
I guess that’s all we can do is try to live “as normally” as we can.
Wishing you positive outcomes from your treatment x

I was diagnosed with stage 1 grade 2 TNBC in November 22 through a biopsy that hurt like hell...im 73yrs old and was a shock to my system to get BC at my age . Anyway ill cut to the chase and give details. my lump is hiding and they say its 1.3cm they wanna do lumpectomy but b4 that they have to do a savi scout marker to indicate to surgeon where exactly the lump can be found. This is scaring me probably coz the Biopsy hurt so much ...Has anyone on here had this procedure. ?????? my op is due 30th January for the Lumpectomy plus sentinel biopsy.
Hi Maryoma, I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Yes she had the markers put in during her biopsy, she got great comfort speaking to her Macmillian nurse and family and friends. If you are anxious then the nurses can provide you with something calming I believe. Sending you well wishes xxx
