  • Hi Patricia51

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer for a second time. While I don’t have the experience you are looking for, I had a lumpectomy I noticed that you haven’t had any answers yet so I thought I’d reply to you to put to the top of the discussion.  Hopefully someone will be along soon with an answer for you.

Best of luck with your operation and with your CT Scan results.

    Best wishes

  • Hi petricia51

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in September, stage two.

Had a right side mastectomy with immediate reconstruction on the right and on the left a reduction to even them up ( not enough tummy fat. Was told I could have the reconstruction later but on a personal decision went for it all in one go.yes it's a big operation but so pleased I went a head with it, 1 operation , no scar tissue to deal with , I feel more normal ie come out of the operation and I felt no one would see a change ( its difficult to explain) before going ahead after speaking to the consultant I was offered a chance to go to a breast evening with the Breast charity, a group of ladies came in to meet us all had there own stories but had gone through the same operation it was brilliant to see the end results and so reassuring.

I am now 8 weeks on from my operation will not lie have had a few problems with healing and a infection but everything sorted was supposed to start chemo before Christmas but got delayed due to the slow healing but talked with doctors and was reassured ie a 12 week window so will start in the next week or two.

Hope this has helped a little just ask lots of questions and don't hesitate to ask me anything

  • Hi sally, thank you for getting back to me, it’s refreshing to have the information and thank you, I am concerned about the anaesthetic and the length of the surgery as I am a diabetic I feel I will leave the reconstruction for the moment and just see how I cope, the mastectomy is taking out of my hands I just hope I am doing the right thing, I am of to have a chat with the plastic’s tomorrow I am just so unsure about anything atm, I am also e/r and p/r positive to, I am just so shocked it has came back again, how long was your surgery sally and how long were you in hospital for, you sound positive which is great x
