Hi, I found out I have breast cancer a few days ago, Im scared and my anxiety is through the roof,
I try not to think about it , but as soon as the hospital appointment person phone, I have a panic attack,
I hated every minute of my biopsies and cried the 4hours I was there but I didn’t realise I was having them tho, so it was a big shock , Just thought I was going my mammogram results..I have a needle phobia I’m trying to be strong but the feeling of dread is unreal, im struggling to eat , I’m worried how I’m going to keep the house warm know I’m off work, Im my husband is in pieces, I’m his carer so I’m trying to stay strong…the cost of diesel to get to the hospital, which is nearly an hour away… Xmas has gone out of the window as I’m at the hospital for pre op clinic a few days before Xmas than back to hospital a few days later for a bleeping tag. I would imagine more needles.
Then operation first week of January.
Sorry for the rant, one real scared of the unknown lady
Hi Aliberry, sorry to hear of your diagnosis. It’s natural to be scared and have anxiety issues. You have been on a rollercoaster ride already and everyone knows how you feel. You will find lots of people on the forum in similar situations who can offer support. Do you have some close friends or family that can help support you as you start your journey? Your local Macmillan centre or Maggies centre can offer lots of support and advice and can put you in contact with organisations that can help you. Once you have your confirmed diagnosis you will have an individual treatment plan which helps make things a lot clear and easier. It’s best to take it each stage at a time rather than trying to work on the whole thing as it can be very overwhelming. Waiting is always the hardest part of the diagnosis and sometimes it seems to be a long wait. Try to keep yourself busy, I know it’s easier said than done. We are here to help and you’ve made a great step forward by joining the online chat. It’s here 24/7 and there are always others online ready to chat and offer support. If you click on people’s names you can see their journey so far and it’s a good way to see others with similar diagnosis.
Wishing you all the best in your journey.

Hello Aliberry - you do sound overwhelmed by it all and I fully understand….. it’s a club no one wants to join!
it’s easier to cope with if you break it down into chunks…. And please remember that cancer can be cured!
with regard to cost of petrol, macmillan can help- contact them and explain your circumstances, they can access monies to help you. Fuel bills are a worry this year so heat yourselves rather than your house… lots of layers will keep you warm
cintact some of the cancer groups…..you’d be amazed at how much help they can be
Thanks sharon1961,
I think your right I am overwhelmed with i all, I wondering as I only found out last week it only know sinking in. . I’m going to break it down into small steps, and one appointment at a time.
Thank you again for your reply and help x
Hi cuffcake,
I have two lovely ponies, one I haven’t had long, my husband bought her for me after I lost my other pony, but it looks like he bought one and get one free, as we found out she’s in foal and due march. So something to look forward too. I’m also very lucky that the farmer where I keep them, is my husband’s best friend, and have aloud me to keep them there for free until I’m I’m back on my feet.they really keep me going..My family have been great we talk every day, I don’t tell them how worried I am , but I think they know.. x
Hi Aliberry, that’s so lovely. A beautiful foal to arrive in spring and to have such a kind farmer friend is absolutely fantastic. As you say, I’m sure the family know how worried you are and it’s great to know you can talk to them everyday and they are there for you
Try to keep busy and have a lovely Christmas.
Hugs from cuffcake x x x x x
i managed it like this
I’m currently managing radiation burns after my radiotherapy but every twinge reminds me how far I’ve come - I am strong, I am brave and so are you xxx
Hi Aliberry - the people looking after you are amazing- they are used to patients who are scared and needle phobic. Make sure you tell them how you feel. I did and they will work with you to get through. I was diagnosed 15 months ago - have managed to get through surgery chemo and just finishing radiotherapy this week.. let people help and take each step at a time. Let your family in ! And cuddle those horses - I talk to my dogs all the time. Love x
Hiya. Try not to worry. Cancer treatment is so much more advanced now. I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Once the treatment plan was explained to me I took it one day at the time. I started chemo hrough a piccline in the arm) 10th May, 6 weeks after my hubby passed away. Had quite a few side effects but meds deal with that. In June I started weekly chemo until 22nd September. Mastectomy and
mphnodes removal on 13th October and recovered well. The cancer nurses are ever so helpful with and queries. Also contact Macmillan. You can get a £350 grant to help you out. Try not to stress and s
y positive.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
