Hi all

My breast cancer Journey started January 2002 when I had a lumpectomy and 9 lymp nodes removed of which one was positive.

20 sessions of radiotherapy then Arimadex for 5 years.

Everything was fine until January 2020 (beginning of lockdown) I was in agony with pains in my feet and legs.I phoned my doctor I couldn't get an appointment to see him, I was prescribed codeine, which didn't do any good so back on the phone again to doctor, I was given appointment to see physiotherapist but by the time my appointment was due we were in lockdown, so it was a telephone consultation, he sent me exercises via the internet, I was diagnosed with Siatica.

I was in touch with my doctor by phone as pain was no better but told just to increase my painkillers.

August 2020 lockdown was easing off so I phoned physiotherapy again to tell him my symptoms were getting worse and coud I have a scan he said he didn't have the power to send me for a scan so organised another phone consultation with a consultant physiotherapist who sent me immediately for an MRI which showed I had a tumor on my sacrum and also bone cancer which is stage 4 breast cancer. I was kept in hospital for 15 days and had radiotherapy to my sacrum.

I was prescribed Palbociclib and Letrozole which had worked well for nearly 2 years.

The last scan I had in October showed lesions on my liver, I have just started Capecitabine this week 1st December.

I was wondering if any of you ladies are taking Capecitabine if so is it working for you.

  • Hi, I am sorry I don't have the right experience to answer, but I did see that your post hasn't had any replies yet, as the site is quite busy. My reply will bump you back to the top and I hope someone will soon be along to help. Best wishes

  • Hi  , sorry I can’t answer your question either but thought I’d pop on to send a big virtual hug and also to suggest that you might like to start another thread with your question as the title? Eg ‘Anyone on Capecitabine? Is it working?’ Or something similar. Also it could be worth posting the same in the Secondary Breast Cancer section as well? You could also post a reply with your question on the Awake thread as there are a wide variety of regular participants on that thread, at different stages of cancer experiences.
Hope you get some answers soon, I’m sure there are folk here with similar experiences. Love and hugs, HFxx

  • Hi Ron

I don’t have experience of capecitanine, but I’m so sorry to hear you are dealing with this.  I hope someone on here can share their experience.

    Best wishes

  • I had a similar journey up to palbociclib and letrozole. In July this year I got COVID and started to get terrible nausea and vomiting. Scan showed possible peritoneal deposits and I was put on weekly paclitaxel intravenous chemotherapy. 15 weeks on I am suffering terrible side effects and have decided to stop the chemotherapy.

  • Nothing to add as I’m new but just wanted to say I’m sorry you’ve been through all that and am thinking of you

  • Hello, Ron.  I'm sorry that the lockdown period has had such a terrible effect on your condition.  I haven't taken capecitabine, so I can't share my experience. But I want to support you. I wish to girls to be able to prevent breast cancer. We all must be more attentive and notice the first signs of a dangerous disease. When I was 17, I didn't know how to examine my breasts. I thought it was enough to see that it was elastic. But the first trip to the gynecologist changed my views. Besides, she told me to be interested in health care. Now I often read juganumedicalcentre.com to find out the ways of prevention. I hope your post goes up. How do you feel now?
