Just been diagnosed with breast cancer. Awaiting results from a punch biopsy then a CT scan to determine the treatment plan. Best outcome I've been told is chemotherapy followed by a mastectomy then radiotherapy with added targeted drugs. Worse case is terminal.
I have 3 adorable children aged from 11 to 17. Breaking the news was the most difficult thing I've ever done. But they have all been superstars.
Feeling lost as the journey begins!!!
Hi, I discovered I had breast cancer nearly 3 weeks ago after a recall from a recent mammogram.
I saw a breast surgeon on Wednesday and I am having a wide local excision on the 1st December to remove the two cancerous areas in my right breast. I’m also having a sentinel node biopsy at the same time. I will also have a course of radiotherapy. I’m waiting on the results of my HER2 test, if positive I may also need chemo.
It was a huge shock and it’s all happened so quickly. It’s not going to be an easy journey for you, but having a loving family and friends around is a huge bonus.
We have to stay strong and be positive, we will both beat this. Wishing you lots of luck on your journey xx
Hi TTI, so sorry to hear you have BC but you have found yourself in the best possible place for support and advice. The waiting is the hardest, when you get your results please post them here and there will be an army of brave women happy to offer you relevant support and advice. It will get easier once you know your treatment plan, then you will start to feel like you have taken some control back, chemo is doable, not as bad as it's press, surgery bearable, radiotherapy painless, it sounds like you have some amazing children, you will come through this, one day at a time, you are not alone. love from Ann
Hi TT1
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer. It's perfectly understandable that you are feeling lost at the moment but hopefully once you know your treatment plan things should start to look better. While everyone reacts differently to chemo it's doable. You'll find plenty of advice and support on this forum.
Wishing you the best of luck with your results and with whatever treatment your doctors put you on.
Best wishes
