Hi all,
I've had an MRI 2 weeks go and had to chase the BCN team today for the results/ appointment to discuss them, as had not heard anything back. Appt with the surgeon has now been scheduled for next week. I was initially told by the BCN team I could be recalled back soon after the actual MRI if it flags up anything further for investigation. However, as I've not heard anything back since the MRI and so had to chase results myself today, is it likely that at the meeting next week I could be told that there are other areas that need investigating according to the MRI, or is it that because I've not heard anything on that front by now, nothing much has changed since my initial diagnosis ( although I understand the tumour may appear bigger on MRI than initially detected via ultrasound/ mammogram and physical examination- this was the reason for the surgeon ordering an MRI in the first place as the size of it was conflicting via the above methods)? If you were recalled after your MRI, at what point did it happen?
Thank you all.
What horrible news to have to come to terms with
Hi
I think it takes around two weeks . Mine was showing much bigger on the mri scan . I had a further 2 biopsies and then some tests to check HER2 as it was showing as borderline. I got the results at the same time . The waiting is the worse .
Thank you for responding Lazy Daisy. So mine were not that out then, I just wondered as I was told by the BCN 7-10 days, but that usually come out quicker, hence worried I'd not heard back by the 2 week mark, neither with the results nor with a booked appointment in the week after to discuss. Do you remember how much bigger it was on the MRI in comparison with ultrasound/ mammogram?
I am 12months down the line now, back in work and leading a normal life. The early days of test after test and waiting for the results is very difficult and my heart goes out to anybody who is going through that right now. I went into my MRI not actually realising it could possibly show up more abnormalities so was very shocked when I had the results. Look on my profile if you want to read my story but remember everyone's diagnosis is different and you will get through whatever comes your way xx
Mastectomy and axillary clearance recovery was really good. I followed the exercise sheet they gave me from hospital and they really helped with recovery. I was able to drive comfortably about 3 weeks after. Tamoxifen has been really kind to me, not had any side effects at all xx
