Hi All
Im new to this group was diagnosed in August with Triple Negative Breast Cancer with two Bi- Focal tumours which luckily was caught early through a routine mammogram which I was called a yearly early for! Why I don’t know but someone was watching over me!! Had tumours removed not in lymph nodes but due to cancer I’m having to have further treatment. I start my chemo next Friday. Having good and bad days more positive now treatment plan in place. Was difficult telling my boys especially having one that’s in the Navy and away a lot! Being honest and up front with them is helping me cope with my worries as a mum making sure they are ok following my diagnosis. Getting a little anxious about chemo and how my body will respond. Sorry message long but first time on here!
Hi AngHornchurch
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. No need to apologise for how long your message is, it helps the ladies and gents on here to know your story so that we can give you any support you need. If you click on my name you will find out a little bit about my journey with triple negative breast cancer. I was diagnosed with it two years ago. It's perfectly natural to feel a little anxious about chemo and how your body will respond but rest assured that your medical team will do everything in their power to make sure that you stay well during chemo. If you haven't been already you will be given medication to help counteract any side effects that you may have.
Wishing you the best of luck with your treatment.
Best wishes

Sorry to hear you are on this journey. I also have TNBC and accepted adjuvant chemo due to the high risk nature of TNBC. I had 4 rounds of EC and will have had 12 Paclitaxel treatments when the final one goes in next week. It’s been somewhat easier than I feared overall, probably because I have had no issues with nausea or with my mouth. It’s well worth keeping a symptom diary. The relentless nature of it is hard, especially on a weekly treatment), but by knowing how you are likely to be at any given point, you can plan around it. Overall I preferred the EC to the Paclitaxel. The hardest days on EC were harder than the hardest Paclitaxel days, but there’s a lot more time feeling normal within a 3 week schedule. Good luck with your treatment.
Hi AngH
i also recommend a diary. Initially I just used it for appts etc but it has grown into a complete record of how I am feeling and has helped me to keep track of where I am going with the treatment. I find it really helps on a bad day to look back and see if it was the same during the previous treatment. Good luck with your next treatment xxx
Hi AngH,
I was diagnosed with the same as you in August. I’ve just completed my 3rd cycle of EC. It’s actually been ok. I’ve felt very tired for the first 48hours after but then the steroids have kicked in and it’s been fine after that. Energy levels bit lower overall but been really lucky and not experienced many side effects at all. Start 9 weeks of carboplatin with pacllitaxel 1 in 3 treatments. I’m then looking at surgery and radiotherapy. I have 3 grown up children but it was still very difficult telling them but their support has been invaluable.
Good luck with it all, just try and stay positive and get support when you need it.
Take care
Hi Ang
Sorry that you're here but I have also been diagnosed as triple negative breast cancer a month ago and yet to start my chemo. In my nodes underarm but surgery will not be for 6 monhs all being well.
By chance I picked up a journal on the day after I was diagnosed with "you've got this" on it. There was 3 weeks between confirmation and meeting the oncologist but when I met her today having the journal with all the major and niggling questions written down helped me feel more prepared and as in control as we can be in this situation.
I've also been using it to write down the random stuff that pops in my head. Even if noone else sees it it helps to jot it down.
Hope everything goes well
X
Hi Sandytoes
Thank you for your kind message. Hope your holding up well. Had first EC session coped better than I thought I would be. Been very tired, heartburn and now have aches but doing ok! Glad 3 weeks until next session! Keeping my diary up to date! Like you have good support from family and we will all get through this. Wishing you well Angh
Hi
sorry to hear your news. My sis, hubbie and I have a book we all write in with questions that pop in our minds so we can remember to ask during appointments. We make note of our meetings in this too. Very useful! Wishing you best wishes and sending you strength. Good luck with your treatment. Angh
