Hi, I’ve just attended my first appointment and been told I’ve got breast cancer; waiting results to decide treatment path - you never think it’s going to be you!
Hi JingleBel, sorry you find yourself here! I was diagnosed in July after a routine check (no symptoms at all) and I still can’t believe this is happening! It will get a little easier once you have a more complete diagnosis and a treatment plan put in place. I found it much easier once I knew for sure what I was dealing with. There is no denying that waiting for biopsy results etc is hard.
Your emotions may be over the place for a while. I go from stoic acceptance of what’s happened to total grief for my old carefree life - it’s all normal part of processing this horrible situation you find yourself in.
I hope you get a treatment plan in place soon xxx
That’s good that things are moving along - it will make a difference once you have a plan in place
I’m doing well thanks - some days are better than others to be honest (still can’t believe it’s happening!). I’ve had surgery and am starting adjuvant chemo next week. I’m a bit apprehensive about the side effects but just keen to get it started so I can tick off each one until it’s over!!
take care of yourself xx
I know how you feel - I’m post surgery but still can’t believe this is happening - it really is like a bad dream!
It’s great you have finished chemo - I start that path next week! Hope your side effects were not too bad
Take care xxx
Thank goodness you’ve finished with it now. Have to say having read this makes me less of a fan of what is to come my way next week!! Just need to get through it one way or another now ;)
I’m starting ec next week. I will be having EC every 2 weeks then I will move to paclitaxil every 2 weeks. I am scheduled to have 8 cycles. Fingers crossed all goes to plan - I should be finished in mid Jan! Would love to hibernate & wake up when it’s all over to be honest!!
Yes I know that feeling. I had mine every three. Week one awful, two not bad and 3rd week I was great. Try getting out every day it helped me loads. I cycled, swam and ran all the way through and research does state that this helps manage fatigue during chemo. I felt crap on some days but I still went out. Good luck with it xx
