Hi
I was diagnosed with grade three breast cancer in Jan 2022. Lump in breast and one lymph node found.

march till Aug  under went chemo

just had surgery full left breast mastectomy and reconstruction as well as lymph removed.

Follow up appointment today with results Disappointed was told the main lymph that had the cancer still had cancer but the two either side that was removed were clear, but a decision has been made to have a full lymph removal?  I now have to have further surgery for this, and just pray that all the lymph nodes that are removed will be clear??

im at a loss atm I feel scared that it’s not gone, will I survive, will it kill me!! SobSob

feeling very low Worried

  • Hello.  Sorry you feeling low.  Your lymph nodes doing their job catching cancer cells to stop spell.  Being diagnosed with cancer and then rapidly moving to treatment etc doesn't give you much time to think then suddenly it hits you.  If you click on members names you'll see their profile.  Everyone at different stages and many stick around for years .

We have an Awake thread just for chats.  Sone nights it's busy others people managing to sleep.  We talk about life, cancer, the weather.  Just click reply to last post and say hi.  There are always new people joining and it's great for moral support.   Link below.

  • Hi BC2022

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have breast cancer and that you didn't have a complete response to chemo and that you are feeling low as a result.  Hopefully when they go back in they will have got it all.  Like you I had some cancer left in my lymph nodes after my chemo.  My oncologist put me on chemo tablets for a further six months to mop any stray cancer cells that might be lingering.

Wishing you the best of luck with your further surgery.

    Best wishes

  • Hi, I'm so sorry that you are feeling so low, and that your results weren't all that you hoped for. The further surgery should clear everything out, and then, presumably any follow up radiotherapy should kill off any remaining cells and prevent recurrence. I think it would be really helpful for you to phone a Macmillan nurse and speak to them about how you're feeling. Also, if you have a Maggie's centre near where you live, they are very helpful to talk to as well. Both Macmillan and the Maggie's really helped me when I was at my lowest point recently. Wishing you all the luck in the world. You WILL get through this!
