I was diagnosed with Stage 1 BC (7mm) in February, Lumpectomy in March, removal of 2 lymph nodes which were cancer free, 1 week of radiotherapy in May and tamoxifen for the next 5 years, my choice to take, resulting in early menopause. I am extremely grateful that I was diagnosed in the very early stages and so glad that I knew there was something wrong with my breast even though I had had a mammogram in November 2021 and was told that I was clear.
I am now trying to get some normality back into my life with the help of counselling as personally for me, mentally I have a long way to go and I am definitely not the same person I was at the beginning of the year. I mentioned I am taking tamoxifen which at first was hard to adjust to but I have managed to cope with the side effects. I just wondered if there are any other ladies out there who are taking this medication who are suffering with aching joints and if they are, can they offer any advice on what they do to cope or if they take any other medication along side the tamoxifen to easy their achy joints.
Many thanks.
Hi Tory . sorry to hear you've been treated for breastcancer. I was diagnised last August. I had lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node removed. Stage 1 grade 3 DCI . i had chemotherapy and radiotherapy and started on Tamoxifen in June. Ive always had some joint pain especially in the hip. I am literally just back from the Doctors as i went to see her about ongoing joint pain in all my joints. I did ask if this could be due to the tamoxife. She is going to ring me back as she is going to speak to someone about this to make sure i get seen by the right person. Maybr refer me back to oncology as she said if you have any new bone pain your supposed to let them know..maybr you shpuld contact your breastcare nurse or the oncoligist..good luck..xx
