Hi there everyone,
I'm a Newbe in this group. Iam 62 and was diagnosed with invasive ductal breast cancer stage 2b grade 2 in early July. . Six weeks ago I had a mastectomy and auxiliary clearance. Found my tumor was grade 3 and 11cm.I had 14 out of 28 cancerous lymph nodes All ca due to having a large breast ncer has been removed I'm still sore and stiff and have a seroma. But kept up physio so I can now move my left arm above my head.
I'm have an appointment with my breast specialist tomorrow who will refer me for chemotherapy, hormonal therapy and Radio therapy.
I don't think I'll bother with reconstruction and will get a presphetsis.
I've no idea so far how long my treatment plan will be, so my life can get on with my life.
Hi @Jan275, I’m sorry for the reasons you have joined our group, but we are a kind and friendly bunch. Well done on keeping on wit( your exercises. I am 60, and completed my primary treatment exactly one year ago. I had a very similar treatment plan, except that mine was the other way round to yours. So I had 6 x 3 weekly cycles of chemo. A week after my last cycle ended I had a mastectomy and axillary clearance. I started taking Anastrazole soon after surgery. Like you, I got a seroma that needed draining three times. I had three weeks of radiotherapy and then after that had my first bisphosphonate infusion. I am on Anastrazole for another 9 years and bisphosphonate infusions for another 20 months. Although life will never be the same again, I am getting on with it as best I can. Some things are for the better … for example I have just taken flexible retirement, so work two days at home. I didn’t get a reconstruction and I am fine with that.
See what your specialist says, and take things as they come, if you are able to do that. It is a long time, I know, but I am very grateful for all the treatment that I received. If you have any further questions as your treatment plan progresses, or if you just need to reach out, there is usually always someone on here who has been through something similar. A big hug to you, Carole x
