Afternoon
After what has seemed like a lifetime but in reality was only 6 weeks I had my first course of chemotherapy on Monday, I was initially diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer with Her+ markers and spread into the lymph nodes. That changed at the following consultation where I was told it had spread to liver and spine, so more tests needed, then another hospital trip where treatment for the breast cancer was removed and palliative treatment offered..
A week passed 2 more mri scans and a PET scan and we have now gone back to the original diagnosis with the plan being Chemo, surgery and Radiation. Sorry to bore everyone with what I can only describe as the most intense rollercoaster I have ever been on.
so I finally had PIC line inserted Monday and then opted for the cold cap, i was given
Docetayel
Carboplatim
Phesgo
Oh and some nifty injections for bone marrow.
I was hoping people could share their first weeks experiences, at the moment I feel like I have sever jet lag and the heat isn’t helping at the moment.
So any helps or suggestions would be fabulous.
I am a 49 normally fit and well maths teacher and this feeling of confusion is very unsettling.
Thank you for reading

Hi Reywick
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer. No need to apologise for telling us about the start of your journey, it helps us to help you when you do that. It's not unusual to feel confused after a cancer diagnosis. Before treatment starts you have so many pre-chemo tests and they all happen very quickly so it's easy to feel confused.
I had the start of my treatment in October 2020 so I can't remember much of the first weeks after treatment. The one thing I do remember is that after my first infusion I felt that I had been hit by a bus. Luckily I had someone to collect me as I don't drive and even if I did I don't think I could have driven myself anyway. When i got home I had a cup of tea and went to bed for a rest. I didn't feel too bad for the rest of my week off until my second treatment. I rested when I needed to and I drank plenty of water. So just rest when you need to and drink plenty of liquids. Try and stay out of the sun as much as possible as it's not advisable being out in the sun while undergoing treatment but if you are in the sun make sure you use factor 50 sun cream on your face and body.
Wishing you the best of luck with the rest of your treatment.
Best wishes

Gosh your emotions must be all over the place with all the different diagnosises you have been given but overall pleased your getting treatment now I'm sure. I was stage 3 and lymph nodes effected too. the first week for me was very overwhelming and I couldn't relax, I spent a long time lounging on sofa bossing OH About but only had tiny naps felt better when I made myself move! walking the dog and getting fresh air every day really helped, and checking on this forum too. by the time you have done a few cycles it will get easier but if the side effects get too much please voice your concerns. I've survived 6 months chemo, surgery and now starting radiotherapy soon. its a tiring experience but case of gritting teeth and getting on with it and know it's all to get rid of it all x good luck x
