5 weeks ago I had my routine mammogram. I am now 1 week after surgery for Invasive ductal carcinoma to remove the tumour from my left breast and a lymph node clearance. So much information to take in .
I am awaiting results from the pathology and my post op appointment to discuss further treatment. The days are very long and the nights even longer .
Once I have the results and know what I have to do I know I will give it my best shot !
I have a lot of discomfort in my underarm and arm and a surprisingly very sore tongue for whatever reason !
I have a lovely family and 5 granddaughters aged 4 to 10 years old. I am usually a very hands on Nanna and mum and normally fiercely independent and I know this will be the most challenging emotionally for me . It’s all quite raw at the moment so early days .
I am looking forward to interacting with other people in the same situation.
take care

Hi nanny J
I am 6 weeks post op for the same as you I had chording in my armpit and arm very uncomfortable but it did go with the appropriate exercises I count myself as fortunate I'm on my 3rd session out of 5 of radiotherapy and will be taking letrozole for five years as you say the waiting is awful but we all get through it and it is so much easier when you have a plan ...I'm 64 also very independent and found myself telling the most obscure people wish you all the best for a good outcome Bezza
Hi. I hope you are coping with the treatment.
my results came through last week . I have to wait for the oncotype test results to come back from the USA to determine whether I need chemo. I will have to take an anti oestrogen tablet as my score was 8/8. I’ll need bisphosponates for 3 years and Tamoxifen or similar for 10 years . I also have to have radiotherapy which will follow the chemo .
I had to return to the breast clinic as I had a build up of fluid under my arm where the lymph nodes were removed. The nurse drained 600 mls . It is swelling up again so I know I will need to return again this Thursday for further drainage. I hope it does not go on for too long as I find this area the most uncomfortable. I am following all the instructions, drinking, resting and exercises so feeling a little frustrated . Has nobody else had this experience ?
Onwards and upwards ! Trying to be positive but it’s still early days .
Take care
NannaJ
