I was told the first 3 secessions wouldn’t be as bad as the last 3. That decided me if this is supposed to be the easy part I definitely couldn’t cope with the last 3.Anyone else feel this way? It basically floored me.
Hi there, It was my first session.Dr had said first 3 shouldn’t be so bad but last 3 would be harder.Six in total recommended. My heart beat so fast on just walking to the toilet and back and that’s the only walking or anything else I did for about 5 days. I had what seemed like every symptom going even though I kept taking nausea tablets Was just brutal in every way. sorry to be so down on it but like I said I feel terrified at the thought of ever goi g back.
Does your treatment plan consist of 3 x EC, and 3 x Docetaxal? If so, then yes, I did find the EC easier, but some people are the other way round - we are all different. Have you discussed this with your oncologist, as they can adjust the dose? Also, some people are changed to 12 x weekly doses of a different chemo, which apparently is easier to manage.
Hi, I have appointment next week with Dr but just can’t bear the thought of any more chemo especially since I had been lead to believe first 3 should be the easier.I understand that everyone is different and they can’t guarantee it will indeed be easier but I’m so scared of and week like the last 1.It’s wrecked my nerves
It’s a different type of chemo. When I was having mine, the lady next to me told me that the oncologist ( we had the same one) changed her to a type of chemo that is given weekly. She said that because it is given weekly, the dose is a bit less and she was able to cope with this (she was 80 years old). The oncologist will know all the different ones that she can use for your type of cancer, so it’s worth asking if there is an alternative.
I was told the three (docetaxyl) after my EC would be worse. To be honest I dreaded it but really wasn’t as bad as feared. My symptoms were constipation due to the chemo and the filgrastim injection you take for 7 days was worse but doable than the chemo. Give yourself the chance of trying it, they can reduce it if too much for you or change the regime. You will be well cared for, be vocal about everything that worries you and they will make sure you are well monitored, much love x
