Hi everyone,
My name is Jo, and an expat living out in Mallorca, feeling a little overwhelmed at the thought of a possible return to a cancer diagnosis!
Funny how nightime is often worse, trying to switch off!
I have been so lucky, having had a burst brain aneurysm at 40, therefore extensive surgery. Bowel cancer 7 years later, cured with a hemicolctomy, then Breast cancer in 2011 at the age of 50.It was Invasive Lobular breast cancer, aggressive, so I had a lumpectomy, though much larger than previously planned, since the tumour was bigger than expected. Two weeks later I had to have a linfadenectomy because they found metastatic lymph nodes. Quimotherapy - radiotherapy, and then apart from various false 'lumps' over the years, I was finally given the all clear and discharged from Oncology in December 2021!
About a month ago, I woke up to a very sore nipple on the unaffected breast, and a thick white/greenish discharge, so I went straight to the emergency gp, because of course these things happen on a Saturday! HeHe gave me antibiotics, tried to alleviate my worry, but said by gp was on holiday, but to make an appointment to see her as soon as she gets back, to organised an urgent referral to the emergency breast clinic in the hospital when one is supposedly seen within a week or two.
The symptoms cleared up in 48 hours with the antibiotics, and my wonderful gp organised my referral to the clinic, so know awaiting the consult on 28th July. The other day I realised my breast was leaking again, though no pain - a clear serous liquid, not much and hasn't reappeared, bit it did nothing to cheer me up!
Sorry this is so long, but this is a shortened version of my medical history, hahaha!
I'm 61 years young, no womb or ovaries, anymore, so not hormonal imbalance!
Just wondering if anyone has had symptoms of unilateral nipple secretion as part of their breast cancer diagnosis, and if so, what caused it, and what tests were you given?
Thankyou for your pacience reading this. Wishing everbody here suffering cancer, all the very best of luck, that your treatments go well with the minimum of discomfort, aswell as the surgeriesand a very big hug to all.Down days are normal, but if there are more down than up, seek professional help, psychologists are great at handing the power back to us by teaching us 'tools' to use, live

Hi Rupitpetit, and a very warm welcome to the forum if you’re new, haven’t seen your username before. Thought I’d pop in as I had nipple discharge a year ago, 2 and a half years post diagnosis. In my case it was the same breast. I only noticed when I saw a scab on the nipple when bathing, then noticed that my bra had ‘stuff’ dried on it (sorry if tmi!!), as did my sports bra from the day before, when I checked. So it had been a blood/ serum type discharge which by then had finished, hence the scab.
I self referred to the breast clinic and was seen the following week, by which time it was all over! I hadn’t had pain or swelling. I had a mammogram and ultrasound, then a consultation. Nothing had shown up on either scan (very thorough and rather painful ultrasound) or from physical examination, so I was told to contact them immediately if it started up again, which it hasn’t. I was followed up a few months later and had another physical examination but nothing untoward. It remains a mystery. I’ve just had my annual mammogram and have a consultation mid August. Hopefully all still well.
Don’t know if this helps at all! Just thought I’d share it as it had some similarities to yours. I hate the fact that nobody could explain why it happened, but not much I can do! Hopefully this recent mammogram will confirm that all still looks ok. Good luck with your consult on the 28th, fingers crossed it is like mine and just one of these unexplained unpleasant things.
Love and hugs, HFxx
