Hi all
I’m new here and quite scared - I found a small lump in my armpit and was referred to the breast clinic within a week - there I had a mammogram and ultrasound scan and also a biopsy as the node looked ‘suspicious’
The consultant told me that the mammogram showed nothing but that the lymph node biopsy was ‘not good’ and I was not to expect good news this week when he’d seen the results
I’m 67 and in good health (Ha!) fit and active with no symptoms of any worrying nature - I feel fine - but now I’m almost planning my funeral - any reassurance from someone who who’s been through this would be greatly appreciated
Hello!
If it helps, I was told following ultrasound and a biopsy that my armpit node looked very suspicious, but the biopsy came back clear.
Unfortunately, they did also find a tumour in my breast at the same time which proved to be cancerous, but I've now finished treatment (wide local excision, sentinel node removal - which came back clear - and radiotherapy).
It's all a horrible shock to start with but my nursing team have been great throughout the process.
Hope this helps x
Thanks Dolly
fingers crossed - you’ve given me a little hope over this - much appreciated - after using ‘Dr Google’ I’ve been panic stricken, what I needed was someone who’d been there to reassure me x
Oh and please don't use Dr Google. When I was diagnosed the breast cancer nurse told me to refer to just two sites: this one and Breast Cancer Now. Probably the best advice I got :-)
Hi.
I had a lump in my breast that turned out to be Cancer. A huge shock.
A biopsy confirmed it had spread to 2 of my lymph nodes and a third 'looked suspicious'. It's very treatable. I've had the tumour removed and full nodal clearance. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy and I'm now Cancer free!!!
It is a shock and it seems like the end of the world. I'm 66 in July. So I decided it wasn't going to finish me off. I've got a lot of things to do yet!!!!
Be positive. Ignore Dr Google and trust your breast care team. They are amazing.
Plan your wish list instead of your funeral. You've got a lot of living to do yet!!!!!!
Hope this helps xxx
