Hi! I just been diagnosed with Bc after a mammogram and biopsie but not sure which type yet as Iv another appointment in the 20th! What I do know is that I will most likely need a mastectomy and lymph nodes removed and chemo! Anybody else had a similar experience.
I’m really sorry to hear that, it’s awful news to receive and lots of tests I’m sure you’ll be having in the next few weeks. I’ve just been diagnosed with grade 3 BC and as it’s locally advanced I’ve just had my first chemo (EC) on Wednesday ahead of surgery in probably November. I am pretty sure I will choose a mastectomy although its a daunting and confusing thought. The days waiting are the worst I think, make the most of your breast cancer nurses and if you’ve a maggies centre or a Macmillan centre with other nurses see if you can chat with them. I found chatting with the nurses really therapeutic as I think it’s easy to try to pretend you’re finding things easier than you are when you’re with people you know and love. Also I really find the Breast Cancer School for patients videos informative, easy to understand and comprehensive. Good luck with your journey, it not one any of us wish to be on is it :0( Xx
Hi josie I have recently had a mastectomy and lymphe node removal after diagnosed with a sarcoma. I had a referral for second opinion as they weren't sure what I had .I may need radiotherapy but not chemo as mine does not respond well to chemo. Once they know what it is for you .you will have a definite plan. I know it is a scary time for you .not knowing is the worst but when you go on the 20th I'm sure they will tell you all you need to know. Apart from a few twinges and a little pain I have been ok. There are lots of others on here who have had chemo I'm sure they can give you some advice on what it's like. I wish you well take care x
The nurses were absolutely lovely at the breast clinic! Def not a journey any of us want to be on but one we have no control over unfortunately I got engaged last week so that will keep me occupied in the months ahead! Staying positive is my only option! Thank you so much for your advice! Will defo need it! Take good care of yourself x
I absolutely agree, I’m a really positive person and it definitely helps but let your guard down to the nurses sometimes, I find it’s a great way to relieve built up pressure and head out again as my usual positive self. Massive congratulations on your engagement, lots of wonderful things to think about and plan
Yeh I have plenty to focus on! I only found out Friday so I’m wondering whether to return to work tomorrow before Il have to take a longer time off ! All these decisions and I’m such an indecisive person lol x
