Hi
Reading the MacMillan Understanding Breast Reconstruction booklet, scars from previous surgery query. Does a caesarean count?
Hi JaneA2018
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer. While I don’t have an answer to the question you asked I’d noticed you haven’t had any replies so I thought that I’d reply to you. Hopefully someone will be along shortly to answer your question.
Best wishes

Can you be more specific about what you’re asking? It’s a big leaflet and not sure which part you’re referring to? X
hello Jane I haven't had my reconstruction yet due to have it next year. Have you had an appointment with a breast surgent yet? I had my one in April and he explained what would happen. He also referred me to a group called Restore breast cancer reconstruction support for woman considering reconstruction. I had my appointment last month. I highly recommend you go to one if you can if its available in your area. please speak to your breast care nurse she/he might be able to help you. I have they web page if you wish to look. www.restore-bcr.co.uk I was in a room of about 30 woman that had or going though cancer and want to have reconstruction. They was a medical person there who know everything about reconstruction and has a power point projection to show you how there do it then questions everyone has a chances to ask something then a group of lady's (volunteers) each stood up and told you what they had done and then showed you they new boobs and scars and trust me they look amazing and the scars. They was one lady that ask if they would us the same incision from a caesarean and the medical person said it depends on your breast surgent some do some don't. The scar will be below the nicker line and as for pain after reconstruction she said if you had a caesarean then reconstruction will feel like a walk in the park. I can't comment on that as I haven't had I've.
Hope that helps take care
That sounds great. I do have to be honest with you, I have had a diep reconstruction and my scar is from hip to hip and far larger than a c section scar so even if they do reuse the c section then be prepared for it to be bigger, also mine isn’t on my knicker line sadly, halfway between a knicker line and my moved bellybutton which is now back in its old spot. There is no way I could hide it other than in a swimming costume. That said, I’m as happy as I can be I think with the job they’ve done and I wouldn’t make a different decision given my choices but just want to give a realistic view of my experience x
