Hi everyone,

Im new and part diagnosed. Went to docs in Feb with a lump under my arm, he wasn’t concerned so sent me for a scan. Went to scan, was told nothing but that they want to do a biopsy. Had biopsy three days later.

Three weeks later, I chased doc for results and he never actually said the word cancer but said it wasn’t lymphnode tissue they took but breast. Said it wasn’t good news but that he would send me for a urgent referral to the breast clinic. It seemed like we both understood what he was trying to say without saying it. He asked if the scan guy had said anything to me at the time and I said no nothing. After the call I phoned my friend to tell and she was positive that it couldn’t be cancer as he would have said. So I called back the next day and spoke to locum  who said he had to be very careful about the wording but the results were conducive to cancer so I said I just need to know if it is and he said yes I’m afraid.

I’ve now got my appointment for the breast clinic tomorrow, which was quick. I was told it was a 15 min consultation but they might want to do further tests. I’m really confused as I thought they would be able to tell my what type of cancer etc from the biopsy? I also feel like I’ve not been given the direct info. I know they can’t tell if it is anywhere else without further tests but I feel like I’m not sure what it is. Anybody else felt this way? Anybody know what they are likely to do tomorrow?

  • Normally breast clinic are one stop.  Mammogram, Ultrasound and or biopsy.  As yiu e had biopsy I should imagine your appointment is to discuss results though they may repeat some if tests you've had for clarity.  After my treatment finished I've had recalls and biopsies for suspicious areas or to monitor changes.  Touch wood aster the recalls all been good (click my name To see my profile).  Good luck x

  • Hi KCS,

So sorry that you find yourself on here, however I hope you will find the forum a useful source of information and support.

My appointments with my consultant have been to discuss results and treatment options. One of the things that they may well suggest is an MRI and possibly further mammograms, ultrasound and biopsies.

Wishing you all the best and hope your treatment is in place speedily.

    Jo Xx

  • Thanks everyone for answering. Think I just feel in the eye of a storm as it’s all calm as I don’t know what I have but I know everyone has been there. So am hoping for more tests etc.
