Hi,

Popping in to meet you. I was diagnosed with dcis last week. They're just analysing 2nd biopsy to make sure all within duct.

Initially i was strong and positive but this week i've slumped. Not sure whether due to the enormity of it or stopping hrt. 5 years in and lowest dose, so hoping not too extreme but really lost my sunny side.

Hoping to meet others.Blush

  • Hi Spindrift

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with dcis.  It's perfectly natural to have down days after receiving a diagnosis of breast cancer. It can be a scary time after a cancer diagnosis particularly before you have your treatment plan in place, you should find once that happens things will get easier for you. You will find a lot of support on this forum who are going through breast cancer, all the people on here are very supportive.

Wishing you the best of with your treatment when it starts.

    Best wishes

  • Hi Daisy53,

Thanks ever so much for reply. Cheering up again now, though still feel less brave than 1st week. I suppose it's sinking in now. Focusing on lots of happy dog walking on beach and arty stuff when can. So glad i joined here.

    Thanks

  • Sorry to hear your news but you find a lot comfort and support from this forum xx

  • Hi,

Sorry that you find yourself on here but welcome!

The waiting is really hard and I think it's fair to say that everyone's emotions are all over the place at that stage. Once you have a treatment plan then you should find that you have something to hold onto and there will be an end in sight. Hope this happens soon

    Sending hugs Xx

  • Hi Spindrift, welcome. I was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago so am probably in the same place as you in my head! I have been taken off my HRT too and just feel like I've been punched twice! A double whammy! I'm looking forward to getting my treatment plan in place, I think it helps to have something to focus on. Good luck, stay strong and keep in touch :-)

  • Hi, Thank you, yes i think i will definitely feel more in control when i have a treatment plan. In the mean time lots of time outside and arty stuff.Blush

  • Hi, Thank you, that makes a lot of sense. I get to hear about treatment plan in a week, so not long to go. Keeping busy.Blush

  • Hi, Yes i feel more tired and more reactive to things getting on my nerves. I'm sure thats the hrt come down. Trying not to comfort eat. How is your hrt come down? Blush

  • Loss of my HRT has been TOUGH Grimacing it's bad enough dealing with getting a cancer diagnosis without losing the the support of HRT too! I'm struggling with my moods and if I hear ONE more person telling me it'll be fine and I'm a strong woman I think I'll scream! I know they mean well but I have ZERO patience without my HRT See no evil oh dear.....onwards I go....Anguished

  • Hi Clairemczed65. Sorry I am new here. I was diagnosed with breast cancer on the 25th of April, I am still busy with biopsies using the MRI so no treatment plan yet. You mentioned they took you off HRT. I would like to know if they replaced this with anything else? I have started my menopause naturally, all be it a little late my ER was 8. I am battling with the weight gain, brain fog, memory loss, my sad mood and temper have lost their balance and the hot flushes are flowing. My cancer nurse has said no HRT. Makes sense.

So now I am wondering if there is a way to balance this out, that will not interfere with my treatment.

Thank you for reading this message.
