Hi, I had a therapeutic mamoplasty and lymph node clearance on the side where the cancer was. The side which was just reduced is causing me no problems at all. However I am getting a weird creepy shivering sensation on the side where my lymph nodes were removed. I have lost sensation in this arm and it feels really weird. If anyone else has experienced similar feelings can you let me know if they resolve and how long it takes? It’s not painful but extremely unpleasant and having a big impact on my sleep. Thanks
Hi,
I had a different surgery, mastectomy and sentinel node biopsy, so a couple of nodes removed only. Still, I lost sensation of the area around my armit for 10 days. Surgery was 14 days ago. For a few days now I feel my skin again but the sensation is SO strange and intense. Quite uncomfortable too. They say it is the nerves slowly healing?
What I really struggle with though is shoulder pain. I am doing my exercises but doc does not let me go above 90⁰ till tomorrow.
Hope it gets better with time xxx
I have reduced sensation / feelings under my arm and the inside of my upper arm. I think.this is common after lymph node removal. It improved greatly by about 3 months after surgery . I was having chemo then and I went on to doectaxil and it got much worse again
It's improving again now 9 weeks after chemo finished and six months since lymph node removal. Its still reduced sensation in my arm and numb in my arm pit. I'd say it's 7 out of 10 normal now . I think it will still improve further in time but probably never be completely normal. It doesn't bother me too much. I've got used to it .
You don't say how long since your surgery.
Xx
Hi
same as bobiboo- very weird and uncomfortable for weeks. My clearance was 17/2 and I had weird pain down to my elbow and wrist at times for weeks. It is only recently back to normal with a slight feeling of numbness in the armpit. Chemo makes the scar feel sore every round.
keep stretching as much as you can.

Hi. I had my surgery on the 9th May. I’m currently waiting for the results of the pathology to see if I need chemo or just radiotherapy. I should get these on the 30th. Currently having yet another sleepless night due to all the weird sensations in my arm.
I'm going to have the surgery soon so I have been reading alot about what to expect. And I read it will take time for all the nerves to come back and how important the exercises they give us to do are ....we must do them to achieve best mobility and function in our arms.
