Hi All

Has anyone any advice re driving too and from chemo?

I was fine when I had my 3 x EC, but I remember my oncologist saying that Carb has a high alcohol content, and if I drove mysel home and got stopped, I would be over the limit.

I had geared myself up for getting lifts on the 4 chemo sessions every 3 weeks.

chatting to the staff nurse at my session last week, she said it was the Pax, and not Carb!!

Has anyone had experience with this?

thank you x

  • Hi, paclitaxel is dissolved in alcohol as not water soluble. You also need piriton as a premed which makes you drowsy. I found I felt better on paclitaxel than EC, though I had a few joint aches along the way. I wouldn’t drive on paclitaxel. I hope your new chemo goes well for you x

  • I had EC x3 and then Docetaxel x3,  I was fortunate to get dropped off and left home again after my chemo  I was told not to drive for 5 days after treatment   I definitely would not of been fit ,I was in bed for a week after my treatments. Good luck i hope it goes well for you as we're all different  Blush

  • Hi Zephyr, thanks for your reply and best wishes.

I currently have had no side effects this time with the first Pac/Carbo and now on day 3 so fingers crossed.

Tested positive for covid yesterday, so week 2 now delayed until next week, so that's not good.

I was going to do a breathe test after this weeks chemo just out of interest to see what the reading was.

I hope you are doing ok x

  • Hi Deeds, yes we are all different.

With my 3 x 3 weekly EC, I felt unwell for 3 days, and then was back out in the garden.  I was apprehensive about the Pac/Carbo, so will see how the next few weeks go.

I hope you are doing ok x

  • So sorry you have COVID. Hope its mild and passes quickly.  I am doing OK - I finished chemo and radiotherapy recently and am now sorting out hormone blocking. It takes a while to recover from it all but each week I can see a difference. I am hoping that by the end of June, the radiotherapy tiredness will have lifted and I will feel much less tired. Am still doing bits and pieces I enjoy but really have to pace myself and allow for tired afternoons and evenings. All in all, though am glad to have been given all the chemo and radiotherapy and despite the tiredness/ side effects I would do it all over again given the same situation.

So glad you are not having side effects - that is just brilliant. Long may it continue!
