Hi, I am 50 years old and was diagnosed with grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma with high grade DCIS lymphovascular invasion positive ER 8/8 PR 8/8 and HER2 positive 8 weeks ago, 6 weeks ago I had a lumpectomy to my right breast and have heals well, I have not actually received a proper diagnosis, the one one I added I found from my doctors portal. I was told it hadn’t spread to my lymph nodes when it clearly has. I’m going to see my local oncologist on Friday to (I assume) talk about chemotherapy/radiotherapy and the other treatments available to me. I also have not been given a stage yet and I’m a little confused, if anyone could help me I would be very grateful. All of what I know I have researched myself.
the main reason I’m writing this, is before I was diagnosed I was full time child minder for my daughter as she is in the last few weeks of a midwifery degree and needs me more than ever! How poorly will I be after these treatments? Will I be able to help at all, or will I be a total write off?
Thank you for your help.
Hi Lab
I would suggest you ask for a copy of your pathology report when you see the oncologist and ask them any questions you have regarding stage etc as it's important you understand. I got a copy of my report when I had my post op appointment and the pathology was back.
I may be wrong but I understood that lymphovascular invasion is not the same as spread to your lymph nodes as it refers to the surrounding tissue of your BC but I am not a medic so you need the answers from your oncologist. I had a highly hormone positive BC like you but was HER2 negative and Grade 2 so my treatment was 5 sessions of radiotherapy and then 5 years of anatrazole which I am now 5 months into
Hope you get the answers you need xx
Hi Jurassicgirl,
Thank you so much for replying. That sounds quite promising. Hopefully from Friday I will understand a lot more, but will definitely ask for my pathology results. Thanks again xx
Hi Jurassicgirl
I had exactly the same as you with regard to a hormone positive BC which was HER2 negative, grade 2. My treatment is the same as yours and I have my last session of radiotherapy tomorrow. I am 5 weeks into taking anatrazole.
Take care
Jo
