Has anyone else developed an all over body rash whilst taking Tamoxifen? I developed a rash after about 2 weeks of taking. I have been on it for 2 months now. I have now been advised to stop taking it for 2 weeks and then restart! The rash appeared before I started Radiotherapy, but got worse during treatment. Anyone have any knowledge or experience? And how quickly after stopping Tamoxifen is the rash likely to go?
I had like red hives on my tum and side of torso but it came with itchiness and dry skin. I started Tamoxifen in july and this was right before Xmas. I carried on taking Tamoxifen. I got some stronger antihistamine from doc along with a large pot of E45 itch cream which I used for a while. I've always been an E45 person but my skin now doesn't seem to like it and I've become a CeraVe convert. It did go. Not sure if it was the drugs or just menopause symptoms in general. Hope this helps.
It almost gets to a point that it's hard to distinguish one side effect from another, and what treatment/drug they relate to!
I've always been an E45 user too, but it's become ineffective - have now switched to Diprobase!
My rash is all over, but worse on my arms and legs! It's almost like raised goose pimples - a little red and itchy!
Yes know how you feel. One symptom of menopause is dry itchy skin hence the antihistamine. Worth asking doc for some as the over the counter ones are not effective. It helped me for a while but struggle to swallow pills even after chopping them up. I've had another couple of spells ofdry skin but stick to a regime of trying to stay hydrated, the odd body brush once a week and lots of moisturiser. Its very hard not to itch. As I didnt have any symptoms before taking Tamoxifen I blame it for everything now!
I asked about taking antihistamine rather than stopping the Tamoxifen, but the Oncologist didn't want me to try that option!!
Don't think it's Menopause related, as I've been post Menopause for a couple of years!
I've been without Tamoxifen for 4 days now, so I'll see what it's like in 10 days time! Makes me a bit edgy not taking the Hormone treatment though!
