I have been on Letrozol for nearly three years and my mobility is becoming more and more limited. I can only climb steps one foot at a time (my right leg not able to support my weight) and I have to walk arm in arm with my partner as have lost confidemce in my ability to walk unaided). I have been referred to a rheuatologist - not yet had rresults of tests - but my GP and my oncologist seem to think these are sie-effects of Letrozol. Is this anyohe else's experoemce. I am 78 and another expanation (my own theory) is tht it is age related. However I am becoming increasinly depressed about being more and mre limited and wonderhow other peope have coped.
I am on exemestane and do feel tired and sore a lot, but it is manageable. I've been on it for a year and I'm mid-40s.
I know someone who started taking letrozole when they were 70 and came off it when they were 75. They said they noticed a marked improvement in everything once they were off it - joint/mscle pain, insomnia and fatigue all went away. They also thought it was age.
It has been good for me to know that as I am looking forward to feeling like me again once I'm off the hormone treatment - and also very happy to keep going to give myself the best chance of the cancer not coming back.
Thank you, encouraged by knowing that someone found the side effects disappeared after coming off Letrozol
Hi Icarus, I have only just come across your post and you might well now be sorted but I just thought I would share that after 9 months on letrozole, my arthritic pain and brain fog have begun to impede on my life so you are not alone in having side effects from the medication.
Hi I am on Letrozole now for 2 months the joint pain is awful and like you was coming down stairs one leg at a time this morning. I some girls on here have tried different brands and Femara seems to be the favourite with least some effects, so I am currently trying to get it as I have every side effect on the list! My tendons are so sore and can hardly sleep on hips with the discomfort at night. maybe worth trying this option first, it is more expensive and that is why some are not willing to prescribe it but it is your whole quality of life. Hope that helps, let us know how you get on .
Take care
Fly
Fly I am so sorry to hear how much discomfort you are in.
My shoulders and arms are the worst so I struggle to lie on either side at night but can't sleep on my back because I am asthmatic.
Thank you for the recommendation of the Femara brand. I have already asked the pharmacist to change my brand from Accord to see if the side effects lessen so I shall see which brand I am given. I shall ask for Femara if the brand I get next doesn't help improve matters.
