Hi just been diagnosed with breast cancer, had a lumpectomy 3 weeks ago with lymph node removal and now anxiously waiting for my results. I am a carer for my mum who has lung cancer and brain metastases and after 4 years she is still here with her terminal diagnosis she has given me hope and a positive outlook. I'm only 52 and when you get the diagnosis it feels like a death sentence. I work for the NHS and have had the privilege of working with cancer patients for 20 years. Treatment for many cancers have advanced over the years and my mum is living proof. I'm joining this group to get support and be supportive through my journey and sometimes talking to people in similar situations can be more comforting. My family and my children are amazing and supportive but sometimes the chats I need I will need from this group if you will allow me.

Hi Tracy
Welcome! Sorry to hear of your diagnosis but glad you have some positive experience of hopeful outcomes from a personal (carer’s perspective) and lots of professional experience. Thank you for all that you do in the NHS. Well done on getting this far with your treatment and just here to say that I understand how unsettling waiting for results can be. What kind of things have you tried to occupy your mind while you wait?
Walking with my dogs and spending time with my grandchild.
