Hi I'm new to this forum , was diagnosed in December 2022 with Grade 2 invasive ductal carcinoma, since December I have had 2 operations , to say its moving fast is an understatement but that's a good thing . Had oncologist appointment yesterday because my oncotype score came back as 34 so will need chemo , not what we wanted to hear but have to stay positive and dig deep to get through this , we know its going to be tough . Now waiting for appointment to have picc line inserted and then wait for chemo start date..
Hello there, sorry you find yourself here! I had an onco score of 28 and was gutted! My left sided mastectomy cleared all the cancer, I was node negative, positive for both hormones, and HER negative. So I too was convinced I would not need chemo. However, on reflection, I’m kinda glad I’m having it now, I want to go into my twightlight years with the best chance of avoiding any worry about recurrence. I finished my second cycle last Thursday and I can honestly say I have felt great throughout. I’ve kept exercising and have tried to stay positive. In short, I’ve found that the horror stories are soooo much worse than the reality. Even if you do feel a bit Pooh, I doubt it’ll be anything as bad as you expect. Go in convinced of the best and deal with any “less good” days as and when/if they arise. Best of luck, you can get through this, many do! xx
Thank you for your positive words , I have read alot about chemo and yes some can be quite scary , I know everyone reacts differently but you have just given me a bit of hope. Its the unknown as what to expect .Good luck to you hope you continue to keep well.
Hi Brunette 23
I had a similar experience with my first chemo last week as Maz.
anti sickness pills worked a treat, a couple of days of feeling a little tired, but by day 3 it was if I hadn’t had any chemo.
my appetite was non existent for 3 days, but is now very back to normal .
I have been able to walk my dog twice a day, a little weeding in the garden, and a bit of housework here and there.
good luck

Hello..... sickness is one of the side affects I dread I have also read about the fatigue that you will feel . Thanks for all the positivity
I took everyone’s advice and that was for the first 3 days take the additional anti sickness pills regularly, even if you think you feel ok. Day 4 I took the morning one, and was fine thereafter. No actual sickness. With the fatigue, just a 30/60 min nap either late morning or after lunch, was enough to get me up and running again.
