I've recently been diagnosed with grade 3 triple-negative breast cancer. The lump is 20mm and scans look good and my lymph nodes look clear so caught early.

I will be having chemo prior to surgery 4 cycles of Carboplatin + weekly Paclitaxel for 12 weeks, followed by 3 cycles of Epirubicin & Cyclophosphamide. I'm having my PICC line inserted on Monday. Interested to hear other peoples journeys who had similar treatment plans.

I've been referred for genetic testing, although there is no BC in my immediate family my great grandmother had BC. I have a daughter so was keen to get the genetic testing done.

I feel I'm handling things really well, I'm quite a laid back person and tend not to worry about things I can't control. Not sure if what I'm about to go through has hit me yet so hoping I all of a sudden don't crash.

  • Hi and welcome. I had a similar chemo regime, 3 x EC every 21 days then 9 paclitaxel given weekly.

My experience was mainly positive. I'm now just over 3 weeks post chemo and am just over half way through 5 sessions of radiotherapy.

I have a blog on here 'Cancer Messed with the wrong Boobs' which details my journey since last June.

Chemo is hard but totally manageable.

    Hi

I've got secondary triple negative best cancer and had successful chemotherapy which finished in December results were really positive. It's spread to my brain but I start radiotherapy on Tuesday which I'm really optimistic about. I had to spend a night in hospital as the side effects of the pressure etc in my brain started to effect my mobility, Im feeling really humbled today that I can accept all the support and care I've received, from a kind word from someone else who is going through this - journey? Battle? It seems hard to put it into words. Normally I'm a let's just get on with it person but this experience is teaching me not exactly acceptance but glad I don't feel alone.

    Thanks for sharing x

  • Hi Jacala

  • Thank you Mindy & thank you for sharing. I find it difficult to put things into words  so don't normally post on forums but reading others stories really helps mr to stay strong xx

  • Hi, have a similar diagnosis but two nodes are cancerous too.

I have my PICC line going in Tuesday, and first chemo session Thursday.

3 cycles 1 week EC 2 weeks off, then 12 x weekly Carboplatin, with Paclitaxel added in on week 1, 3, 6, 9.

I also have been referred for genetic testing, so will await the results of that one.

Reading your comments, I could have written it as it is how I am feeling and the way I am handling the situation.

Good luck with Monday, and please let us know how you got on
