Hello everyone, completely new to all of this, first of all just want to thank everyone for candid and informative information, it’s emotional and inspiring to read, and NO ONE is a fraud, I was diagnosed in Dec  and had op on 28 Jan Invasive Lobular cancer and node biopsy, op went well and get results next week, fingers crossed, breast healing well but lots of discomfort under arm, reluctant to put cream or oil on the incision but feels very tight, am I expecting to much it’s only been 2 wks, can see a couple of stitches will this settle.

  • I wouldn't put any cream or oil in the wounds for a good 4-6 weeks or you could risk infection. You want to keep the wound as clean as possible.

My underarm was really tight for weeks and weeks. Keep up the exercises. I didn't gain full mobility without the tight feels for many months. Radiotherapy stiffened things up again for me too, so just keep plodding away at the exercises and things will eventually settle.

It is very early days for you. Breast tissue doesn't like to be disturbed. I was told it would be about 6 months after radiotherapy before everything completely settled - which was about right. And that was about 8nor 9 Mo ths after surgery.

That's not to say you will feel like you're healing all that time. I was back running about 6 weeks post surgery.

Hi thank you very much that helps will keep doing the excercises.

  • Hi Daisy

Just as Beatthebreast says, keep doing the exercises. It does take its time for all the tissues to settle back down. Now 10months post surgery and 8 months post RT all is good. Full movement and tightness gone. You will just wake up one day and notice that you are back to normal. For now, take one day at a time and follow all instructions.

    All the best
