Hi diagnosed Breast Cancer March 2020 start of Pandemic so diagnosis treatment etc on my own.Jan 2021 told Met to my Spine now Stage 4 inoperable.  Feb 1st 2022 told Met to Liver Found in recent Scans off for yet another Pet CT Scan tomorrow devestated.

  • Yeah. This is a hell of a lot to take in.

Is the PET CT scan intended to look into existing mets or are they doing a whole body scan? What about treatment? Are you getting all the support you need, medically and otherwise? (Ignore any question you don't feel like answering.)

I hope you get the scan results soon, and a clear idea from the medical team on how they are proposing to manage and treat going forward.

  • Sorry to hear this, what a lot to take in.  I hope you soon have clarity on the diagnosis and treatment, thinking of you as you go for your scan tomorrow x

  • Thanks appreciate long day today now waiting game for results x

  • Thanks appreciate wait now re results x

  • True. I find waiting the hardest. I wonder if they are going to take biopsies or just go by what they are seeing in the scan. This is somewhat of a sensitive area for me because at the time of first diagnosis my scans showed all kinds of findings in my lungs so I was told these were mets, only to find out nearly a year later that they weren't, once a thoracic surgeon went in and plucked it all out. I was, and still am, quite angry about that because I did query the first diagnosis and was told they were absolutely certain, only for them to admit later on that they never brought in anyone whose expertise was in that area to look at the scans in their MDT when they made the adjudication.

  • Hi no plan is PET Scan review referral to Liver Consultant hopefully Surgery to remove Tumour & Pt of Liver and revamp my Cancer Meds as Letrozole not working. I also have the PIC3CA Mutation which promotes Tumour Growth .

  • Thanks. This has given me more of an idea. I like the idea of liver surgery, partly because it would get rid of the issue there, and partly thanks to the liver's ability to regenerate. From what you are saying, your oncologist is sounding similar to mine, the kind of doctor who explores all possible options. How did you find out about the gene? (I too was sent for genetic testing, but they limited it to three genes that were specific to breast cancer.)

  • My Oncologist recommended it and the Insurance Co signed off on the testing

  • Thanks, Irish.

I hope you get the latest scan results soon!

  • Hi have appointment with Oncologist Tues am
