Hi ladies.
New to this forum. Got diagnosed back in July 2018 with breast cancer. I was on HRT at the time and I have my suspicion that it was the HRT that gave me the cancer. My surgeon said it didn't but it certainly was feeding the tumor.
Any1 here with the same? What do you think?
BYW, I had six months chemo and a radical double mastectomy and I'm in remission. Having the mastectomy has been the best decision in my life.

hi I was also on HRT many years mainly due to hot flushes being constant and unbearable...on diagnosis I was advised to stop HRT on that day. FLUSHES all day and night now...but I asked this question from surgeon and he said they will never know however my cancer was estrogen positive......I have a strong feeling it did contribute...I'm amazed they are now talking about selling it over the counter at chemists..ll
Hi
I went through menopause at 45 but went on HRT when 53 for what was going to be a five year period following a diagnosis of osteoporosis in my spine. Ironically I was going to stop after 4 years as felt it was not suiting me anymore but ahead of that was diagnosed with early screening detected ER+ BC in November 21 so had to stop anyway. Felt better once I got through first week stopping and now on Anastrozole post successful surgery and 2 days into 5 sessions of RT
Clearly the HRT was feeding the BC but I will never know whether I would have had it if I hadn't gone on HRT so decided not to go muse on it as feel it's wasted energy for me and somehow feels like it makes it my fault. The HRT did significantly improve my spinal bone density so did what it was intended to do. Whether it did more I will never know. Lots of women have HRT and are fine and most women who have BC didn't take HRT
Main thing for me is being kind to myself and try to look forward with positivity. Like hev999 I am surprised about the potential move to over the counter ..it's powerful medication!
Hello so can you tell me how you are getting on with anastrozole. I wasn't on HRT ever and was told its was good that I wasnt ,I to had ER +bc.hope all goes well for you.
Hi
It's kind of ok so far. I've had a variety of side effects some of which have gone ( headache nausea) others remain but have diminished or even go sometimes ( joint pain mainly )
I do have a irritating dry throat and feel tired but not sure how much the tiredness is due to still recovering and now going through 5 sessions of radiotherapy with a 2 hr drive each day. I have worked bar for 2 weeks off for surgery and now 2 weeks for rads as I work from home and enjoy my job but again that may be contributing to the tiredness. I am having acupuncture privately which I find helps particularly with my sleep and I'm getting 7/8hrs although do still wake during the night but can go back off.
I'm 7 weeks in now with anastrozole so hoping things will continue to settle down
Best wishes x
Hi everyone . Just wanted to say that today I went to see a gynaecologist regarding my constant bladder infections . She was brilliant with me and said that in her opinion going on HRT if you need to in your forties ( I was 45) is a good thing not bad .
She was also of the opinion that there was no firm evidence that my cancer was down to me being on HRT . Also, that I did the right thing at the time .
I think her message ultimately was “ don’t beat yourself up.”

Hi. I’m due to have a double mastectomy and wondered if you might share your experience? Although having bilateral is my choice I’m still scared even tho I know it’s the right thing for me going forward, having had ER + in 2002 and now triple negative 2021. Any advice would be welcomed xx
