Diagnosed with ductal breast cancer ten years ago stage 3 plus lymph node involvement. Had chemo, surgery and radio then Tamoxifen. After a while I became resistant to Tamoxifen and my scar from the last surgery masked lobular breast cancer in the same breast. It was 9 cm and in exactly the same place as before. More surgery, chemo and radio. Now on Anastrozole.
wonder if I had lobular and ductal originally but lobular missed on wide local excision so held off for a while till became Tamoxifen resistant. Just a friendly warning to not rely on Tamoxifen working for ten years. It made me not be too vigilant and assume the tissue changes in the breast were harmless.

  • Hi

Thanks for your post.  I guess sometimes the medicines don't always work for everyone and it can reoccur whether on the ER+ reducing medicines or not.  I think you are right to mention that we should always be vigilant with checking our breasts and speak to our Dr if we notice anything different.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having to go through this all again.

    Kindest wishes, Lesley

  • Thank you Lesley. It’s good to know you are doing well. This time round has been worse mentally as I thought it was under control. Devastating news to have another and especially not knowing if it was present at the beginning but not noticed. There are so many factors to breast cancer. We travelled extensively after the first episode to places near and far. Off to the Canaries tomorrow for some sun and mental recuperation. Make the most of life!

    best wishes
