Hi everyone I'm a 30 year old women with 2 young kids and have been diagnosed with grade 3 triple negative breast cancer. My mum also has breast cancer too but has already had her surgery, hers is a different grade a type to mine and is going through her last set of chemo hopefully. The doctors told me I had to have chemo first to shrink the lump then surgery next year sometime. I had my first dose of chemo over a week ago and it's made me feel so tired and weak at times and sometimes me and my mum struggle to deal with my kids but have to gather strength to as they are my world. My mum has been my rock through all this and I was when she was going through hers first.
Oh my goodness, what a lot you and your mum are dealing with. This is a great group for advice and support so I hope this helps you a little when you need it
Hi Colindale girl
I love Colindale....and always visit Bang Bang!!
I am sorry you found yourself here. And what a trying time for you and your mum to have bc to contend with. Are you able to rope in help from partner? I can empathise as a single mum but of course your children are still little and may not entirely understand when they're full of energy and want to get out or do things, when you cannot and have to shield when u do chemo.
Your mum is super to be finishing her chemo. Hopefully in time/before you start yours, she will be able to recover her strength to help more with your kids. Luckily you do have each other to rely on and exchange tips too even though this time of overlap is posing more difficult than anticipated. Mum's often have to dig deep to find strength for their kids. I get that totally!! It's exhausting and tiresome
How many cycles have you got? Please remember this will be a short period of time for a lifetime ahead with your children? Maybe explain to partners, children about bc and that you need them to e good and helping you instead? Kids are really helpful and want to care if given a chance. My teenager also says where he could help me with taking on more chores. I said he can't go out with his mates as much as normal time for a short spell.
I hope your energy will pick up second week onwards ...sending u healing vibes.
C x
