Morning!
never thought I'd be someone who couldn't sleep, well that was until I received a diagnosis on Wednesday of triple negative grade 2 breast cancer.

To say I'm terrified is an understatement!

im looking to reach out to others who have a similar diagnosis who are perhaps further along in their journey than I am.

I want to stay positive without this constant nagging anxiety in the pit of my tummy.

thanks A

  • Hi, whilst I haven't been.diagnosed with the same breast cancer as you, I do know how you feel.  I have been.diagnosed with grade 2 invasive ductal carcinoma oestrogen positive and having surgery today..  It has been a rollercoaster of emotions and some days I have felt everything is against me.  This group is fantastic and you will have loads of amazing support on here from women with the same cancer as you.

    Take care Mel xx

    Hey Ali,

I'm 32, a GP and had triple negative, grade 3, stage 1 breast cancer.

Waiting for my radiotherapy but I've had chemo and surgery now.

I've set up a website called www.thecbomb.co.uk that I'm updating weekly.

I've put loads of hints and tips on it of things I found helpful and the science behind it.

I remember feeling pretty scared and most people write really negative stuff about chemo etc, it wasn't something I'd rush back to do again but it didn't stop me from doing anything I would do normally, I didn't nap, I wasn't sick, I still exercised regularly etc.

If you've got any questions I'm happy to chat.

    Best of luck,

    You've got this

    Annie x

  • Hi Ali Han

Welcome to the  forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer.  I was diagnosed with triple negative last year, mine was grade 3. I had it both my left breast and underarm. After having chemo, surgery and radiotherapy I am now in remission. Triple negative is very treatable these days.

Best of luck with your treatment when you have it and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out and I’ll answer them as best I can.  If you haven’t already there is also a triple negative forum which you can join if you wish.

    Best wishes.

Hi Annie - great website, thank you.  Wishing you all the best with your radiotherapy x

  • Dear Mel,

thank you for your reply. I hope your surgery went well? That you recover well!!
I think this group will be of a great strength to me, and already I'm finding it hugely positive. I know it stops me googling on the wider web - which is pretty gloomy.

I guess I'm at the very start of this journey and will seek any advice to support my physical and mental well being.

Do let me know how you are getting on Mel.

    thanks A

  • Morning Annie,

so glad to hear that your treatment is working well for you, it's truly reassuring to hear from someone who has received similar treatment to what I'm about to embark on.

I wonder if your positive outlook helped during the chemo?

I did take a look at your website and I'm definitely interested in how healthy diet to keep well.

    thanks

  • Hi, I am wide awake, unable to sleep.  Think it is more so because I can't get.comfy as not iin any pain from my mastectomy and axillary clearance.  I have got a drain in which is a bit of a pain to carry around.  It still doesn't feel real all of rhis.  Never been ill or had an op in my life and then get hit by the big C.  This group is amazing and everyone is so nice.

    You take care, Mel xx

  • Morning Daisy53,

Wow, that's such great news to hear. I'm so pleased you are now in remission!!
I'm trying not to let this diagnosis consume me, but somehow it feels like it's infiltrated both my body and mind.

I would be interested to know, if you have children, what you said and how you've supported them through this?

    Thanks A

  • Hi Mel,

Sorry to head you can't get comfy and you're wide awake!!
I can see that lots of women have used this group for support and advice, I all ready know that it's going to be a great comfort and support to me.
I'm going to assume they managed to clear your C with Chemo and you've just had surgery as a preventative measure?
may I ask if they have continued to scan you along this process? Also what is the difference between grade and stage? I am grade 2 but not sure what stage? Also, did you have any genetic testing? How quickly from diagnosis to first treatment- I'm desperate to kill these cells!

I've a meeting on Thursday with the consultant...

Please don't feel obliged to answer anything you don't want too. I'm interested how this started for you, and your experience so far.

I could bore you into sleep...hahaha
