I wrote this entry in the general newcomers section of the site and a kind member suggested I should repeat it here, so here it is:
My wife was diagnosed with lobular carcinoma in situ in 1997. The path since has been made more comfortable by the inestimable NHS oncology services. Several recurrences later, two courses of chemotherapy (FEC and docetaxel) and a mastectomy, she is now treated with trastuzumab, pertuzumab, fulvestrant. and denosumab. This cocktail has, thus far, kept her well and the recurrences at bay. All the repeat performances have been localised, fortunately. My role is to provide as much support as I can and to ferry her around to and from the various appointments, and also, of course, to love her unconditionally.
Hi Motcouk
I was tagged in the new to community section as I belong to the breast cancer group. A warm welcome to the Macmillan Community from me too.
It doesn't look as if you have found the carers group yet, so this will be a good group for you to join and share your experiences of being a supportive husband and hopefully get some support for yourself too. Click on my link and it will take you to the group.
Your wife is lucky to have someone so supportive helping her through this.
Kindest wishes, Lesley
Thanks Lesley, I'll have a look at that.
