New here 2 weeks post surgery. Very worried because they didn't get it all and want to do more tests in case it has spread.

  • Hi Linnie2018

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer. It's perfectly natural to feel worried that's it spread but easy to say I know but try not to think too much about it. Try keeping busy by doing the things that you love to keep your mind occupied.  I found reading and going for walks with my dog helped me when I was worried.

Wishing you the best of luck with your scan when you have it.

    Best wishes

Thank you. Yes I am worried. The tumour was bigger than they thought and they didn't get it all. 17 lymph nodes removed 2 positive. I am so scared that it has spread

  • Scans are routine when positive nodes are found.  My tumour was 3mm smaller than the ultrasound suggested,  but it missed the fact I had a positive node which was found after surgery. I think that oncologists can be a littler brutal in their bedside manner sometimes and forget that is new and scary for us.  I had a CT chest scan,  a CT torso scan with contrast, a nuclear bone scan of my entire body and an MRI of my kidneys,  after being told that I'd not have surgery or chemo if it had spread until I really needed it! Nothing was found in the scans,  and I had level 3 clearance... where they removed all 3 levels of ancillary nodes.... and they found no cancer at all

They want to see the full picture so they can treat you better,  but when you've lost faith in your body because of the thr cancer they cause so much anxiety. I had an MRI scan on my head at the end of August to check for any issues causing my long covid/ vaccine triggered tinnitus.  I'm terrified that they'll tell me I have brain tumour when I go on Wednesday. I had my annual mammogram the day before on my good boob, and I'm now convinced my other shoulder has bone metastases as my shoulder is sore.  I damaged it years ago, have been on letrozole for 18 months, pain is common after clearance and I had joint pain with covid.  Could they be the reasons?? Not to me!

Good luck,  and I hope that you don't have to wait too long for the results x
