So sorry to hear about your mum, you cannot describe to anyone outside just how overwhelming it is the procedures, results hospital visits etc you feel like it's not really happening and want to know when it's all going to stop.

All I will say is keep talking use this forum for chats and people's experiencess, take a note pad and pen to each appointment, have your questions ready

Hope all goes well take care x

Hi there,  It must be really scary for you especially when you're playing the waiting game.  Once I was on a treatment pathway it felt a lot easier than 'not knowing'.

Just to add to what 'I like coffee' said, if the covid restrictions don't allow you to go to the appointments with your mum, you might like to suggest that she phones you up when she's in the appointment and places her mobile on a table on Loudspeaker. That way you can still support her, listen to what the medics say, ask your/her questions and take notes from a distance (she may not remember everything they said).

Wishing you and your mum all the best. xx

  • Hi Libpop

Welcome and sorry to hear about your Mum.  Once your Mum starts treatment things should start to feel better.

I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer last year and after chemo, surgery and radiotherapy I am now in remission.

Wishing you and your Mum the best of luck with everything.

    Best wishes

  • Hi  I’m here supporting my mum too, I agree there is no feeling like it when you first here the news, but you’re there for your mum which is the most important thing. Joining this group really helped me understand what’s to come, and to ask for help in terms of upcoming appointments.  Take each day as it comes it does get easier and it’s amazing when you look back how far you’ve come.  We had a view of one treatment at a time and now she’s half way through chemo and doing really well.  Here if I can help, remember to take care of yourself too.  Lisa x

  • Thank you, her consultant was really nice and very good at explaining. We know it will be chemo first then surgery and possibly radiation.

  • Thank you, luckily they allowed me to accompany her to the results appointment. If there is a time I cannot make it this will be helpful (will have to teach her how to put it on speaker first).

  • Thank you that is reassuring and glad you are in remission.  Take care.

  • Thank you, she is already finding it hard not going to work but gp happily signed her off for 6 weeks. they have said she is definitely not allowed to work when treatment starts.  Luckily I have my dad and brother there and I am only round the corner.  Its good to hear your mum is doing well. Thank you.
