I was advised to get a couple of bras from M&S which zip up at the front.  They're not underwired.  I went in in the middle of July and once I explained to the assistant what I was looking for, she let me use the changing rooms to try some on.  I've been told to wear them 24/7.

  • Thank you for this.

I used to love bra shopping.  Now not so much.

I hope all goes well for you

Thank you, I've been blessed as things have mostly gone smoothly for me (more detail in my blog on this website: 'Cancer & Cakes' if you're interested).

Hope it all goes well for you too MaryMK

  • M&S do a good post surgery bra, front fastening and very soft. I am using these for sleeping now, 2 weeks post surgery

Sainsbury, Tesco and Asda do sports front fastening bras cheaper than M&S

  • Hi MaryMK

I was told to get sports bras too and to take them to surgery. I got a couple from M&S which have normal bra fastening at the back. I did wear these in the immediate days after and I found that they were quite supportive of similar sized boobs. Later during RT my friend suggested some soft front fastening ones from Sainsbury. They were called 'lounging bras' and very soft compared to what I would usually have worn. They were great for those few weeks. Glad to say, now 6 weeks post RT, I am back to my usual old trusty underwired M&S minimisers which keep everything were they should be.

The others were good for the times they were needed, but nothing beats the old faithful tried and tested ones Upside down

    All the best Wallydug

  • Thank you.  I agree with you on underwire bras.  I always feel they give me a better shape.

I am having to buy  online as apart from supermarkets nowhere to buy bras

I have ordered on from m&s so thank you for advice.

I hope  all goes well for you  x

  • As others have said, get ones that zip up the front. Just wanted to add that there is no way you'll be able to pull a bra over your head and even less likely to be able to get it off again for a while after surgery....!

I got great ones from Amazon and still wear them as I'd already ditched underwired bras a year of so before BC diagnosis as I found them uncomfy,
