Just had my telephone appointment with Oncologist and told I will be having Chemo and Immunotherapy for TNBC ! In shock and feeling really anxious about it all . Anyone with advice for me please ? Thanks

  • Hi Sewit

Sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with TNBC.

Just take things one day at a time and try to keep busy to take your mind off things. Also trust your medical team as they will do everything in their power to make sure that you keep well during treatment. I found reading and going for walks with my dog very helpful when I was stressed.

I was diagnosed with TNBC last year and after having chemo, surgery and radiotherapy I am now in remission.

Wishing you the best of luck with your treatment when you start it and hopefully you won’t have any side effects,

    Best wishes

Thanks Daisy53 X Think the torture of waiting for a treatment plan has been so difficult that I thought I would feel better and less anxious ! But now I have my treatment plan , think the reality of it all has knocked me sideways . Thanks for your kind words and so happy at your great news X take care

Hi Sewit. We are in the same gang.l. welcome to fight club girlfriend. Chemo was a bit of a suprise for me too as i thought they would just cut it out. I had my last of 3 cycles of EC and the tumor responded after the first session. I've now got 12 weeks and and a 3 weekly of carboplatin / taxol.  It's scarey at first, but very doable. I've continued to work but have come out of the office as I dont want to catch anything from anyone. I have it on a Thursday feel OK until Monday then have 5 days of fatigue,  don't work, then back to normal after the weekend.  If you get a choice opt for a cathoport to be installed in your chest as its better than a picc line. Trust me it doesn't hurt. They give you loads of anti sickness drugs and I haven't been sick once. I found the cold cap to try and save your hair horrible and only did it once, then shaved my hair really short and it has gone really thin. I'm wearing my baldy head like a warrior. If you can, get your eyebrows microbladed like tomorrow because you can't have it done whilst having chemo. Be prepared for hot flushes, loss of appetite for a few days then feeling ravenous  after my first one I felt wobbly and weak so they reduced my steroids and I was much better the second time. TNBC is unpredictable so they throw everything at it to kill it. YOU CAN DO THIS. we all have loads of tips. Keep in touch. X

Thanks Julesgod54 X I know it's probably the fear of the unknown that's terrifying but once I meet the staff at my oncology unit I'll feel better ( fingers crossed ) I've read lots of positive things on this group so know I'll have lots of support and advice x

  • Hi Sewitt, sorry to hear about your BC, chemo is not as bad as it's press and if you do get side effects most of them can be controlled, I was sick with my first treatment so they threw everything they had at my sickness for the second one and it worked, one day at a time, you can do this, thinking of you, love from Ann
