Hi everyone

I'm 29 and just diagnosed with grade 3, stage 2 breast cancer a couple of weeks ago. I am starting dose dense chemotherapy this weekend, followed by surgery, then hormone therapy and probably radiation therapy. I can't help but have worst case scenarios run through my mind and just can't imagine this ever being over.

I am going in tomorrow to have my PICC line put in and tumour markers.

Grateful to have this space to talk to people going through the same thing so just wanted to say hi and ask for general advice on how to cope?

  • Hi Shell66

Welcome and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with Breast cancer. Breast cancer is very treatable these days. The best advice that I can give you is to keep self busy by doing the things that you love doing. Try to get out for a walk every day even if it’s only a short one as it helps to keep side effects at bay. Also trust your medical team as they will do everything in their power to make sure you keep well and they will give you contact numbers for the oncology ward so that you can contact them if you need help during your treatment.

While it doesn’t seem it now once you start treatment everything will move very fast and it will be over before you know it. I was diagnosed last year with Triple negative breast cancer and the time has flown by.it’s nearly a year since I was diagnosed. After having chemo, surgery and radiotherapy I am now in remission.

Wishing you the best of luck with your treatment.

    Best wishes

    Hi Daisy53

Thanks so much for your reply and advice! It's reassuring to hear positive stories.

  • Hi Shell66, so sorry to hear you have BC, there are lots of us on here, when does your chemo start and do you know which drugs, each case is different but someone here will have been on the same treatment and will be able to help support you, try to take each day as it comes, once you have your treatment plan you will also have your end date, thinking of you  Love Ann

  • Hi Shell66, I am in a same position. Had my picc line put in today.. just back from heartland hospital.. they tried putting in my left arm but could not find perfect veins so they put in my right arm. It was easy no pain.. my chemo is starting on Thursday.. I am little terrified but trying to be brave.. I will try cold cap to protect my hairs, let’s see if it works.. good luck to you too for treatment ahead. Lots love xx
