Hi everyone my name is Margaret I was diagnosed with breast cancer in May after finding a lump in my right breast . I have recently had a lumpectomy in July and some lymph nodes removed . I had to go to the hospital several times recently as my breast swelled up and was hot and red . The doc said I had probably got an infection and there was fluid that he would drain out. I had to have it drained twice and had antibiotics. It has reduced in size but is still red I was a bit worried about some lumps that have appeared in my armpit and on my breast but I spoke to my breast care nurse and she thinks it is seroma. I have a consultation on the 23rd August to find out I think what further treatment I will be needing . I’m someone who is always asking questions since I was diagnosed as I feel the more answers I get the better I can cope with what has been an enormous shock to me .
Hi Over 70
Welcome to the club that none of us wanted to join. I think all of us here have gone through the shock stage that you describe. Things become a little easier when you get the information on the rest of the care plan. What we know, we can begin to deal with.
I am sorry to hear about the infection and seroma and hope that these clear-up soon. It is good that you just have a few more days to go until you see your care team again n 23rd. Meantime, take care of yourself and if things feel that they are getting worse do call the hospital before this and ask for help.
Wishing you all the best
