My hair has started to fall out. I feel horrible. I know it grows back eventually, but that doesn't stop me hating this.
Hi Gez60 I think I have responded to one of your previous posts. I cant even begin to understand how you feel about losing your hair its a part of us that we take for granted, but value it because it says a bit about who we are. and our identity.
Are you thinking about wigs or not got that far to date?
You're in a period of change - always tough.
I clipped mine off when it started to fall out. It was emotional, but very liberating. I felt much better once it was off - more in control.
Now, 2 months later, I'm very used to my cropped style and might even keep it this way once the coverage starts to grow back.
To my delight I discovered a stork bite that I never knew I had, and also that the skin on the back of my head is as soft and lovely as a baby's behind!
Hi, I also hated that phase, but I shaved it and got a wig, which I absolutely love as I chose a completely different style. Sending hugs and positive thoughts
Hi girl mine started to fall out Sunday nte 12 days post first chemo treatment. Beforehand I had long red hair Irish girl and my hair was everything to me so I went got cut short before treatment to make it less hard . It didn’t help one bit tho when. On Sunday eve it started to fall out in clumps. I went yesterday to my amazing hairdresser with my 5 sisters and got the shave grade 1 cnt believe I actually suit it better than the shirt cut I had before I cried and cried more for my children to see me but they so strong . I have some beautiful turbans to match my wee baba girl who is 10 months so this helps me and getting my wig nxt chemo 10th August. It’s so awful as it’s our hair and it’s not fair but one thing I took from a lady was to take control of your hair and shave it before cancer takes control. Hope this helps you sending you lots of hugs x
I shaved mine off ahead of chemo which felt good (in control) and then I didn't really notice it falling out that much. I would recommend doing that, like ripping off a plaster!
It was the easiest side effect for me in the end as it wasn't panful and I'd already got used to the bald look. Hair growing back great now and I never would have had short hair without chemo!
Neevy I’m so pleased you’re happy with your eyebrows and promise this post is not a judgement because we all do what we need to but I have to post that I was told by my consultant and nurses not to do that during chemo, the risk of infection is high too high so I just wanted to put that out there too x
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
