Finding this all new and strange,  had my official diagnosis yesterday,  stage 2 breaat cancer the one that attacks the hormones.

50 years old with other health conditions,  got my operation the 17th Aug but don't want it

Sorry you have found yourself with a cancer diagnosis - what operation are you having and is there a reason you don’t want it ?

  • Hi Jo,

The op will be to remove the tumour , surrounding tissue and lymph nodes as that's where it as spread too.

I don't want chemo I seen a friend go through that and no thank you .

My quality of life is already poor , there is so many things I can't do, having the op is not going to improve my quality of life but in fact make it worse and I don't want that x

  • Hi

The surgery is really the cure , everything else is to mop up any remaining cells. I have been on this site for about 5 years and there were two ladies that I know of who didn’t have surgery, and sadly both have died since. I can understand your reluctance to have any treatment, but unfortunately the cancer won’t go away, so if you have anything it really should be the surgery. The surgery is actually quite straightforward( breasts aren’t attached to any important organs etc) and recovery fairly reasonable, you may need some extra care if you already have some health issues - but I really would urge you to have the surgery.

    Love Jo x
