Hi all,

Iam new to this forum but been reading some of the posts on here and many seem very helpful and understanding. I had a core needle Breast biopsy last week and Iam expecting the results in the next few days. Think I can say this has been one of the worst weeks of my life. Beyond worried. Any comments would be gratefully received. Thank you.

  • Hi

waiting for results is truly awful - hopefully you won’t have much longer to wait. Only 20% of biopsy’s show cancer , so at the moment there is more chance that it is not cancer, but you have to be prepared for if it is too. Hopefully this site has shown you that breast cancer is very treatable these days, not on anyone’s bucket list to have cancer, but the treatments are all doable.

Before you get your results , try and keep a time of day to let your mind run riot , keep a notepad when things pop into your head and only try and deal with things in the time you have allocated , it can help you carry on throughout the rest of the day.

Good luck with your results , and if it is cancer this site is full of women in your situation and further down the treatment line , who can give you help, hope and encouragement.

  • We can support each other though this, I’m in exactly the same position as you.  I too had a core biopsy just two days ago, One step at a time we will get through this, sending love

  • Hiya

I’m so sorry to hear you are going through this. Waiting for the results is an awful time. Just try to be kind to yourself and do some nice things to distract you - easier said than done I know but it can help. Also some of the things I tried, which people recommended,  was downloading a calm app - I think there are  lots of apps which do this and they have music/stories meditation etc  which did help me sleep better when I was anxious at night.  Also the box breathing method helps me when I get anxious about going into appointments etc its where you breathe in for 4, hold for 4, breathe out for 4, hold for 4 and repeat. I find this is enough at times to stop my negative thinking and helps to make me feel balanced again. I think it works as you have to concentrate on your breathing so again distracting you from your other thoughts.

I hope the results come back showing no cancer but in the meantime be kind to you, one day at a time and hope some of these things may help. Xx
