Hi - I’m new to this forum but was advised to ask a question here that I posted earlier in the lymphodoema group.

My problem is finding other people like me who have experienced lymphodoema of the hand and arm after radiotherapy following a mastectomy and lymph node removal. There is so much that I find confusing about sld ( simple lymphatic drainage ) because I am missing lymph nodes in the other side also after a mastectomy / reconstructionand lymph node removal 20years ago. As you are meant to direct the lymph fluid towards healthy lymph nodes I’d like some way of knowing that the others left in my body are really working! For years I’ve suffered with swollen ankles and feet and the only diagnoses was “may be you have an underdeveloped lymph system”.

I particularly would like to hear from people who have experienced manual lymph drainage with a therapist as this is not available to me on the NHS and I am considering whether or not it would be worth the expense of going privately.

  • Hi . I just dropped by and noticed you've not had a reply as yet to your question. By me answering it'll "bump" your post back up to the top of the discussions on this very busy forum.

Whilst waiting for someone to come and hopefully answer, it might be a good idea to Ask a Nurse here (just click on the link I've created)  There might be wait of two or three days until they can reply.

Sending you all the best, B xx
