Hi new to the group today. Just been diagnosed with stage 3 and HER2 positive. Start chemo next Monday for 6 months and then mastectomy after that. Have been really stressed and worried and that alone has been making me feel ill so now trying to change things round and be really positive. Just want to get on with this now and start the treatment as longing for the day when it's all over.
Hello Charlie53 welcome, you'll find lots of support here. I don't have the same type of cancer as you but I have just started a 6 month course of chemo following a lumpectomy. I think you are taking exactly the right type of approach to all this by trying to keep positive. I find that just taking one day at a time, rather than think ahead to next week, next month etc helps to reduce stress. Hope everything goes well with your chemo x
Hi Charlie53 welcome ..we know you'd rather not be a member of the club but it is the best place to arrive at in the midst of the rollercoaster ride you have embarked on .
My story is on my Profile just click on my name and have a read then come back with any questions you may have if you want .
At the moment you need to take a breath ..try to distract yourself easier said than done I know but it is possible honest .
I had the most organised cupboards ever Try to organise some meals in freezer for when you don't feel up to cooking . Have a look on the chemo thread there is a hint page for things to help with SE .
I found it easier to only concentrate on one day at a time so just concentrate on first day of chemo which your imagination will be making harder than it is . It's not easy at times but it is Doable .
Hopefully you'll feel so much better after your first one ..start a diary of your side effects and you'll find a pattern emerge so you can plan for good days usually around day 15 to 21 .
keep posting
Hi Charlie53, I have also recently received a similar diagnosis as you. Completely shocked and numb by the whole situation. Have found great support through the forum, you are not alone and we are all just gettg through each day, one step at a time. I have just had my first round of EC chemo and I am completely shattered, but I get up and then spend the day sleeping if I need to it didn’t hit me till day but I am taking the meds anf they help too. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to be superhuman, just try and take it easy and be kind to yourself. Shout if you need anything there will always be a friend to help
Good luck for Monday
xx
Hi I've just finished 6 cycles of Chemo and have a lumpectomy in a few weeks, check my profile for diagnosis etc.
My chemo was remarkably manageable but I know I’ve been lucky. I've been blogging, so this might help you.
good luck
