I am posting on behalf of my wife who is too ill to do it herself. She is 82, has had Parkinsons for 12 years and has other major problems including a number of crushed vertebrae which seriously affects her posture.
She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer for which the Consultant proposed a mastectomy preceded by Latrozole. She took this for about 4 weeks but suffered excruciating leg cramps, swollen feet and ankles and other side effects. As a result she switched to Tamoxifen but after a couple of weeks this caused almost identical side effects. A report from the anaesthetist indicated an unacceptable level of risks with surgery, given her frail condition, so continued treatment with these drugs is now her main option.
Have others suffered the leg cramping and swelling and is there anything which can ease these painful effects? Anything to help would ease her suffering.
I developed very severe nocturnal leg cramps when pregnant. GP prescribed a calcium drink which did help enormously.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
