Just had my mastectomy

Hi Welsh 1e…..I’m in similar situation to you, had mastectomy last Monday, drain taken out on Saturday….today, for some reason feel a bit negative and emotional, think it takes over in waves suddenly thoughts of ‘ what’s next?’ pop into head and drags you down again….but, have to try and look at the positives….surgery done….., moving forward to whatever treatment comes next all to be rid of this horrible thing!!

Hi Mrs polly. Great to hear from you. Yes im trying to settle at first step done and trying not to think about the next clinic appointment for results and further treatment but its difficult. Im in pain today, struggling to control it and drain is tender now but all to be expected. Good to hear you had your drain so long too. The lady in hospital with me having a mastectomy had hers removed within the 6 hours we were in post op so I was a bit worried.   Yes we must stay positive. First step to be rid of it is done!!! Stay strong and positive

Hi Welsh 1e, I had a mastectomy last Wednesday to, still have drain in, BCN didn’t phone today, so will call them in the morning, ask when they will take them out, I already had chemo, have an apointment for radiotherapy Dr and an apointment for results Dr, I did read some people can have the drains out the same day, and other people it can be up to 3 weeks xx

Did you get drain removed? Hope all’s ok x
