Hi everyone newly diagnosed have been in isolation since 28th June . Due a lumpectomy and lymph nodes removel on 12 th July .Stressed out big time scans done and all clear that was a relief .Never had an operation before so stressing a out that as well lol. I've lost quite a bit of weight on a slimming plan and I think that was probably the reason I found the lump so easily .Had all my covid and preop tests today hopefully they will come back ok and the op will go ahead.Anyone got any advice as to how I calm myself down before the op. I'm on blood pressure tablets.
Thanks Over 70
I am sorry you had to find yourself here but hopefully you will make new friends who will offer you the calming support you need at the moment.
Firstly, I think anyone who says they haven't felt as you do at this point....the fear of the unknown....are being less than honest. However, like you, I had never had an operation and had no idea what to expect. It was ok. I was surprised. I have had three more since. A bit of stiffness afterwards and normal healing twinges but nothing too horrendous. Follow up treatments may be less pleasant but we can chat about them at the right time.
Try Awake as a chat line to meet others........it may make you laugh or if like nice photos....walking back to happiness has lots of beautiful walks and visits.
I hope all goes well on Wednesday. Keep in touch. My treatment was in 2015. I am still cancer free.
Take care. Love Karen
Hi Over 70, sorry can’t really offer any firm advice on how to calm down….even doing things you usually enjoy doesn’t really take your mind away for long, but even if your mind is taken off it for 5 mins it’s something…… I had my surgery on Monday( mastectomy/ lymph nodes ) and was extremely anxious leading up to it, kept myself busy day before, preparing for after surgery……now hopefully the healing begins, so, try and focus on that bit ( not easy I know at the stage you’re at right now )…feel free to carry on voicing your concerns……sending good wishes for 12th xx
